The firm has been at its Winter Park location since 1986. Mr. Cotter entered private practice in 1981, and in 1992 Mr. Zelman joined the firm forming the partnership Cotter & Zelman, P.A. Understanding the sensitive and emotional nature of dissolution of marriage proceedings, our goal is to assist clients in obtaining the best possible result while guiding them through this emotional and difficult experience. We achieve this through the personal attention we provide to all of our clients along with the assistance of our knowledgeable, helpful, and experienced staff. Mr. Cotter and Mr. Zelman have over 55 years of combined experience which they utilize along with their aggressive and professional approach to handling cases while representing clients in their divorce proceedings.

We hope that this website will provide a “plain english” overview of most of the “general rules” and issues that often arise in family law cases. A word of caution however; as in any important legal matter, there are almost always exceptions to the general rules.
